Recent Events
NYMS at EAS For many years NYMS has been affiliated with the Eastern Analytical
Symposium & Exposition, EAS for short. Our members, Mary McCann, Don
O’Leary and John Reffner, have regularly volunteered their time and expertise
to this annual event, held this year again at the NJ Garden State Convention
and Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ from November 13 - 16. NYMS has chosen
this meeting as the place to bestow its Ernst Abbe Memorial Award on a
microscopist of outstanding merit.
Part of EAS is a scientific instrument exhibition at which NYMS is one
of the 250 exhibitors. This year we showed a polarized light microscope
with a crystalline object, visible simultaneously through the binocular
tube and by computer projection. Margaret Walsh & Martin Youngberg,
Joe & Sharon Orosz, and Jan Hinsch took turns attending the NYMS booth.
Spectroscopy is an important topic at EAS.
